Welcome! I'm glad you found your way to this page and want to find out more about me.

My Journey to Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

Would you chuckle if I told you that I have a fear of needles? I do! Of course that means becoming an acupuncturist was not exactly a childhood dream of mine... I set out to become a teacher, and attended the prestigious St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. While completing my Bachelor of Education degree, I started developing severe digestion issues and felt generally unwell. Once I completed the program and returned to my native British Columbia, my stomach and digestion troubles remained.

After consulting many different doctors, who prescribed many different pills with what seemed like a "hit and miss" system, I received a referral to a specialist. The wait time was 18 months, and I just knew that I did not want to feel unwell that much longer. I decided to consult a naturopath, and he suggested acupuncture to complement his homeopathic therapy. My fear of needles kept me from trying it, but the treatment with herbs helped restore my health and wellness completely.

I am an avid soccer keeper, and once I felt well and like myself again, I was finally able to spend more time on the soccer field than at the doctor's office. Unfortunately, it did not take long, until I injured my knee. I guess that comes with the territory for a goalie... Once again, my naturopath suggested acupuncture, and this time, I agreed. After one treatment, I was hooked. I would have never thought, that acupuncture could be completely painless, relaxing even but I was proven wrong. I started researching acupuncture and TCM, and fell in love with the holistic approach and philosophy. Two weeks later, I was enrolled to become an acupuncturist.

We are the sum of our mind, body, and soul, and our health and wellness come from within all those levels of our being. Being able to balance those levels allows us to find our true selves, and true happiness and that's exactly what I want to help my patients achieve. If you would like to find out how a holistic approach to wellness can help you, visit my information page about TCM.
